It's 3:45am and I can't sleep. This post will be completely
pointless, because either people agree with me and don't need to hear
it, or they don't and then they don't care to hear it. So I'll keep it
short. I just need to get it out. I want my standpoint on this issue to
be known.
The issue of why somebody would go on a
rampage and kill little children is complex. There are myriad of reasons
behind it - mental illness, family history, exposure to violence, the
list goes on and on. The issue of why so many people in the US die of a
gun violence is simple - they have guns and easy access to them.
I
am not going to get into the whole "we need a better gun control"
thing. It is clear that Americans treasure their right to own a gun,
even those who don't actually care to own one themselves. There is a gun
culture in this country that was started over 200 years ago and it is
not going anywhere.
Freedom always comes with a price tag. If the majority of people want to have the freedom of carrying a gun, so be it, but then don't call what happened "unimaginable". Call it what it is - expected. Stop blaming
healthcare, video games, internet, wars, parents, teachers, religion or
the lack of, God, the Devil, hatred, etc. It was none of those that
killed those kids. Ask the coroner. It was a bullet.
Prior to starting a family I believed that life does not have to change much just because one has a baby. The shock of how wrong I was led to creation of this blog. You can read more in "Stories from Mommyhood". But I didn't want this blog to be only about parenthood. In "Thoughts" you find essays on different topics. "Randomities" contain stories and interviews. "Funnies" are image macros for laughs, because the only way to survive this all is with a sense of humor. Enjoy!
